Would this make an interesting story?

i think that pirates are not such bad idea but you are going to have to make it really intriguing to capture your audience because i find it often hard in pirate books. it does sound a little cliche though,kind of reminds me of the pirated of the carabien. Maybe it's not the best idea but if you work on it and give your mind a little pressure I'm sure your imagination will throw something at you. Don't give up on the idea though, who really cares what people say? If you like it then wright it and let develop as you get deeper and deeper into the story.
