Is a bachelor's degree from Australia valid in the United States?

Im looking into studying abroad...I am an LVN here in california with an ociates degree in liberal studies. Im looking for a change and thought studying abroad would be great! Hey...maybe Ill end up staying there forever, but if not...would my australian degree be equivilant to a degree from a school here in the US?
