Can someone help me out please?
I don't know what to do. I am enlisted in the USMC Delayed Entry Program as a senior in high school. I am currently slated for active duty intelligence specialist, as I scored a 92 for my AFQT. My two goals in life so far are to serve in the Marine Corps and go to college. So I applied for the NROTC scholarship. Last week I visited the college that the NROTC scholarship is for, and I really liked the school. Now I don't know what to do. I talked to my recruiter about switching to the reserves so that even if I don't win a scholarship, I can still become a Marine and go to the college that I want. My recruiter says that all of their reserve slots are filled and there is no way that I can do this. He says that he would have to discharge me and then I would have to wait a year before I could MAYBE get back in IF there's a reserve slot available. So I'm stuck. Intel Specialist is what I wanted for active duty, but after looking into this school I think active duty may be a mistake. My recruiter also claims that if I go active duty then when I get out the Marine Corps will pay for all of my college. But is this true even with a private school? I want to go reserves, but then supposedly I'd be discharged. I don't know what to do! Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
