My spellcheck on Open Office not working?

All of a sudden my spellcheck feature is not working on Open Office. It says that it is complete, but has not done anything. There are definite misspellings. I went into the help menu and have found nothing there to correct this. I even tried doing manual spellcheck. Nothing. Any ideas? I am doing college online and need to make sure everything is correct.
