How do I "Draw" with a friend in the Pokemon Union Room in Pokemon Soul Silver?

I can't freaking figure it out! My friend and I were both in the union room and we can't figure out how to draw together. I asked the girl (the NPC that's there) for information about it but she doesn't tell us HOW to do it. Or do ANYTHING for that matter.
