How do i adjust the temperature in my bathroom sink?

i dont know what I did, but now I only get hot water. there are 2 valves underneath. the one on the left only seems to adjust water pressure. so i am guessing the one on the right adjusts temp. but no matter which direction i turn either in, the water goes only from very hot to scalding. any help here? thanks
